South Africa vs Australia Final Match Preview

South Africa:

The Proteas will be extremely pleased with their performance the other night and will be looking for an encore to upstage the Aussies. They would be cautious of the fluctuating fortunes of both these sides in the series and would do well not the reverse the trend again.

Their batting was upto scratch on a good wicket with nearly everybody making valuable contributions. The form of their interim captain Hashim Amla is still a concern though and the Proteas will be hoping he comes to the party in the all important 3rd one dayer.

Morne Morkel was unplayable the other night and the other bowlers need to support him yet again to strangle the Aussies from both ends.

No changes are expected in the line up that looked well oiled and extremely professional in the 2nd game.

Australia:

Fast bowling sensation Pat Cummins was taken to the cleaners by the South Africans in Port Elizabeth and that has put a halt to his exponential rise on the international scene. Mitchell Johnson has not quite proved to be as much a wicket taking force in the Rainbow nation as he was 3 years ago. Doug Bollinger and Xavier Doherty seemed to handle pressure reasonably well and they will need to continue that effort and hope for their strike bowlers live upto the task in the decider.

The Australian camp will be a concerned one before the decider as this tour has been an ‘all or nothing’ one for them. After an Impressive win at Centurion, they failed to work as a unit at all in Port Elizabeth, thereby giving the hosts a good chance of winning the series. Firstly their bowlers were way off the mark in the 2nd game and conceded too many runs late in the innings, which proved to be their undoing.

Apart from David Warner, the Australian batting looked vulnerable under the pressure of a big chase. The middle order left it too late and let the asking rate reach unmanageable proportions and paid the price for it. It is imperative that the likes of Micheal Clarke, Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey convert their starts into big ones in order to mount a challenge yet again in the decider.

Aussie skipper Michael Clarke was optimistic about the fitness of ace all-rounder Shane Watson who suffered from back spasms in the previous game and will be hoping he is at his best for the big game.
