India vs England T20 Match Result Presentation Score Card 29-10-2011

Bad captaincy by Dhoni today, dissapointed. First of all, he persisted with Yusuf Pathan and he ended up giving away a very precious expensive over – offspin! 2 right-handers batting would have thought Manoj Tiwary would be a better option, Jadeja’s figures says it all…P.S Let’s actually have 1 match-related post published now, will miss you Liam! :( Thanks for such great comms at Cricinfo!” Still, Punit, a job well done by Dhoni during this tour as a whole. He was the man of the ODI series, after all.

There you have it, England’s first win in India since 2006, and it’s by six wickets. The early dismissals hurt India’s effort, and they struggled to add any real impetus to the innings – especially once Raina was dismissed. England’s reply had its nervy moments, but there was never the weight of runs to really set their hearts racing.

India vs England Only T20 Match Presentation

Samit Patel is presented with a motorcycle for his all-round effport

“We were 15 runs short,” says MS Dhoni. “It was the sort of wicket where you’d aim for 150 odd runs. We didn’t get off to a good start. It was very slow, so it was very difficult. They used the slower ball very well. Ashwin played some shots, and that’s why we reached 120 odd runs. No point thinking about the Australian series right now, what’s important is the next few days off and then back for the Tests. It’ll be a good series for the youngsters, especially the bowlers.”

Kevin Pietersen is the Man of the Match for his half-century. “Tricky wicket,” he says. “It’s one of those wickets were the first six overs you’ve got to take a risk or two. Luckily i was dropped! It’s a good place to come and play as a batter, but a lot of us underperformed. But believe me, we tried our hardest. We’ve got a lot of work to do technique-wise here in the subcontinent. But we’ll continue to give our best and try to improve. We’ve tried really hard on this trip, although we came unstuck in the one-dayers.”

“It’s been a very tough month for us,” admits Graeme Swann. “We’ve played some abjectly horrible cricket, but it came together today. Finn has been the shining star for us for the whole month, I brought him on today when I needed a wicket and he provided. We know that we played some poor cricket for five games, and one swallow doesn’t make a summer.”

India 120/9 (20/20 ov)

England 121/4 (18.4/20 ov)

India set target of 121 Runs in only T20 against England

India have got up to 120, it didn’t look like they’ll get there. The massive advantage England have, though, is that they know exactly what they need to make. Not 140-150, but 121. India’s spinners will make it hard for them.

Toss Report:

Graeme Swann calls tails. It’s heads. India will … err I don’t know yet. MS Dhoni hasn’t said what he wants to do. Finally he says India will bat.

India are not playing Varun Aaron and Gautam Gambhir from the fifth ODI. Gambhir got married over the weekend so has better uses for his time at the moment. Robin Uthappa gets an international game for the first time since 2008, and Yusuf Pathan, who’s been sidelined from the ODI squad since the tour of West Indies, also gets a chance.

Uthappa will open with Ajinkya Rahane. Uthappa has played some monstrous innings in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which is India’s domestic T20 tournament. Not the IPL.

England will open their batting with Alex Hales. Swann said with a grin that Hales plays for the best county in England. He would of course, since it’s Nottinghamshire.

Eden Gardens is only a quarter full according to Ganguly, so there are thousands and thousands of empty seats at the moment, waiting to be warmed.

Pitch:  the pitch is the same as the one that was used in the fifth ODI. India spun England dizzy in that game and Ganguly expects more turn today. Win the toss and bat first should be the way to go.

India vs England Only Twenty20 Toss Report 29th October 2011

The ICC released its T20 rankings last week and England, who are World Twenty20 champions, were ranked No. 1. It could be a short reign, if they lose today they’ll slip to No. 3, below Sri Lanka and India. If they win, they’ll stretch their lead over Sri Lanka.

Sourav Ganguly, on NEO sports, says the pitch is the same as the one that was used in the fifth ODI. India spun England dizzy in that game and Ganguly expects more turn today. Win the toss and bat first should be the way to go.

India have won the ODI series 5-0 and have the opportunity to send England home winless. How the tables have turned. The Tests count for a lot, though, and there aren’t any on this tour.

India vs England 5th ODI Result Presentation Wickets Highlights Stats Photos

What a stunning collapse from England. They appeared to be cruising at 129 for 0, but Cook’s dismissal really turned the match. From there, they collapsed to 176 all out, the spinners claiming nine of the wickets to fall. Jadeja and Ashwin, as they have done all series, caused major problems. Fittingly, it was MS Dhoni who held the catch to win the match.

England after winning the toss elected to bowl first in last and final odi where England is playing for the pride and honor to save last odi and white wash against India.

Alastair Cook’s won the toss and this time England bowled. Tactical change, Cook says, dew a factor. Pietersen’s not playing because of a broken thumb and has been replaced by Bell. Graeme Swann’s back as well, in place of Scott Borthwick.

Dhoni said in toss presentation that he would have bowled first too. India have made one change, Parthiv Patel has been replaced by Manoj Tiwary, which means Gautam Gambhir is likely to open with Ajinkya Rahane.
