Robin Uthappa gets an international game for the first time since 2008, and Yusuf Pathan, who’s been sidelined from the ODI squad since the tour of West Indies, also gets a chance.
Uthappa will open with Ajinkya Rahane. Uthappa has played some monstrous innings in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which is India’s domestic T20 tournament. Not the IPL.
England will open their batting with Alex Hales. Swann said with a grin that Hales plays for the best county in England. He would of course, since it’s Nottinghamshire.
Eden Gardens is only a quarter full according to Ganguly, so there are thousands and thousands of empty seats at the moment, waiting to be warmed.
