MI: Mumbai, on the other hand, has the best weapon that can neutralize the Gayle factor, Lasith Malinga. The slinger was devastating in the semi final and his opening spell might just decide the game.

RCB: The Bangalore team, despite having a bevy of match winners, is a one man army. Since Gayle joined RCB, there has hardly been any match which RCB won without a major contribution from him. The big Jamaican, who ended up as the most valuable player in IPL 2011, will once again be the centre of attraction when he takes guard.

Mumbai are in to the final. It is that 19th over again, helped of course by Malinga’s unplayable missiles on either side.

Post Match Presentation:

Harbhajan: “We won the toss and it was a bat-first wicket. This was a better wicket than earlier ones. We got to a total where we could defend. Malinga and Franklin were fantastic in the end

Thomas: “We have just finished pushing a very very top team. Obviously gutted but we have provided some good entertainment. That guy Malinga is a quality performer.

Mumbai are in to the all-IPL final. It is that 19th over again, bowled by Franklin, helped of course by Malinga;s unplayable missiles on either side. 160 was going to be tough with Malinga’s four overs to contend with. 4 for 20, all dismissals bowled. Priceless in this format

Franklin: “I think it was a bit last-minute [decision]. Bhajji had faith in me. Good to come on the right side of it. It was Bhajji’s decision. Couple of overs ago, it was supposed to be Pollard. Malinga is awesome, he is one of the bests pace bowlers in the world.”

Virat Kohli: “Two nights ago I said it happens once in a while, we have done it again. i went in with a mindset to play myself in, I was not desperate to score but I got the right cricket shots. Chris has the ability to give a 25-run over. The other day I made a mistake trying to go for a six off the strike bowler [Tait]. This time I decided to play two dot balls. That [game against South Australia] will still be the best, this can be second-best I think.”

Vettori, who is still padded up: “Amazing games both. Its tough for the bowlers but it must be amazing to watch. Two hundred is a par score here. It was tough to be belted over the park but we managed to get home tonight. they are confident enough to back their games but you have still to play exceptionally well. It is pure batsmanship and its enthralling to watch. Some of the bowlers will look forward to not playing here.”

Katich: “Virat was brilliant, Gayle was awesome, We tried different lengths, different paces, it was a big learning experience for the young bowlers, probably a couple of dropped catches cost us today. Earlier on the ball was holding up a bit.”

Twice in three days, RCB have withstood the onslaught of an opposition batsman’s century.
